Energy Efficiency

  • High-Efficiency Heat Pump. Rated 16 SEER, provides significant savings over standard units rated 14 SEER or lower.
  • High-Efficiency Heat Pump Water Heater. The most efficient model on the market, more than twice as efficient as standard tanks.
  • 100% LED Lighting. LEDs use up to 90% less energy and last up to 25 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.
  • 2x6 Exterior Wall Construction. These walls create more room for insulation, adding energy-efficiency of the home.
  • Increased Insulation Value from R-13 to R-19. R-Value measures a material's resistance to heat. The higher the number, the greater the insulation performs.

The Live on 1st homes are considered "green," with features like high-quality air-sealing, and energy-efficient appliances. Elements include:

  • Increased Insulation Value from R-13 to R-19. R-Value measures a material's resistance to heat. The higher the number, the greater the insulation performs.
  • Mechanical Fresh Air Ventilation. Low wattage, ultra-efficiency mechanical fresh air ventilation unit controls the fresh air coming into the home.
  • Low-E insulated Glass Windows. Low-emissivity glass minimizes the amount of infrared and ultraviolet light coming through glass, without minimizing the amount of light that enters the home.
  • HERS Rating. The home is projected to score in the upper 50s on the Home Energy Rating Score (HERS) index. New construction homes built to Alabama’s current residential energy code would score a 70. The lower the HERS rating, the more energy efficient the home.
